Sales Tax Registration (STRN)

Sales tax registration is mandatory for most manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and larger retailers, and is often demanded by corporate buyers before they will place an order. We manage the entire FBR process, including the biometric and physical verification steps that trip up most self-filed applications.

Our process

How we handle it

  1. Eligibility check

We confirm whether you fall under federal or provincial sales tax, and which registration category applies — these are frequently confused.

  2. Application filing

The registration is filed on IRIS with complete premises, banking and business-activity details.

  3. Biometric verification

We guide you through biometric confirmation at a NADRA e-Sahulat centre within the required window.

  4. Site verification

We prepare your premises and documentation for the FBR field visit, which is where most applications are delayed or rejected.

What to prepare

Documents you will need

Send what you have — we will tell you what is missing before anything is submitted, so nothing gets rejected on a technicality.

  • Active NTN and IRIS credentials
  • CNIC of owner, partners or directors
  • Proof of business premises — ownership deed or rent agreement
  • Recent utility bill for the business address
  • Business bank account maintenance certificate
  • Photographs of the business premises, machinery and utility meter
FAQs

Sales Tax Registration questions

Still unsure? Call +92 339 6752500 and speak to a consultant directly.

Is sales tax registration compulsory for my business?
It depends on your activity and turnover. Manufacturers, importers and many wholesalers and retailers are required to register. We assess your specific position before you commit to registering.
What happens if I register but make no sales in a month?
You must still file a nil return every month. Missing returns attract penalties and can suspend your registration, so the ongoing obligation should be factored into your decision.
What is the difference between federal and provincial sales tax?
FBR administers sales tax on goods. Services are taxed by the provincial authorities — PRA in Punjab, SRB in Sindh, KPRA and BRA elsewhere. Some businesses need both.
Why do applications get rejected?
Almost always for premises verification — an address that cannot be located, a utility meter that does not match the documents, or no visible business activity at the site. We prepare you for this in advance.
